In this deeply compassionate response to two women living with long-standing anorexia, Michelle addresses the impact of traumatic treatment experiences and the fear, mistrust and loss of hope that can remain many years later.
Drawing carefully on her own experience of anorexia while distinguishing it from the trauma these women describe, Michelle offers hope that good help and compassionate support can still be found. She reflects on what recovery may mean in the context of chronic and enduring anorexia, the healing importance of being valued, seen and known, and the need to rebuild trust through trustworthy human relationships. She also gently shares the faith relationship that has provided a steadfast and healing foundation in her own recovery.
