The power of gratitude – Michelle Sparkes

The power of gratitude

Have you ever felt overwhelmed by bad news and challenging life circumstances? I’m sure we all have. When wave after wave crashes in on your world or ebbs away at you over a long season it can make it difficult to rise out of the bog and see (or believe for) anything hope-full in your future. There is such power in shifting our focus away from what we don’t have (the bad news or difficult circumstances we face) to what we do have. This is the power of gratitude and the wonderful thing is it’s available to all of us. We can all choose to shift our focus (at any moment) and find something (even if we have to dig deep) to be grateful for – and when we do, it creates a crack in the darkness that lets the light in, opening up more possibilities for a changed perspective and renewed strength and courage to deal with whatever we must. We can spiral up into hope or down into despair. Shifting our focus is key.
