Love Food with Julie Duffy Dillon RD

A great chat with Julie Duffy Dillon RD, dietitian, writer, speaker and host of the popular Love Food podcast, covering everything from her approach in working with people affected by ED/DE, to problems larger bodies experience in getting timely diagnoses, to her thoughts around mealplans and veganism, and her top 3 tips for making peace with food. These include:

  1. Stop fighting your body – put down your battle gear and ammo (start here)
  2. Respect your body – acknowledge that it’s your “earthsuit,” it holds your soul, it deserves respect. “When I’m hungry I need to eat, and when I’m feeling satisfied it’s okay to stop. And if I don’t do that, if I make mistakes (in my body), it’s okay, I can try again next time.”
  3. Be curious about what your body is trying to communicate to you. Let your brain get used to being “compassionately curious” about what drives your behaviours (whether ED or regular food behaviours).

I love the above because eating problems are not about eating as much as they are about our attitude (beliefs and behaviours) towards ourSELF, the person at ‘home’ inside our skin.

Questions and feedback welcome.
